Learn More About Custom Hearing Aids

What Are The Different Styles of Hearing Aids?

There are five different styles of hearing aids:

  • Completely-in-the-Canal (CIC) - Fits inside the ear and out of sight.
  • In-the-Canal (ITC) - Custom-molded hearing aids that fit partly in the ear canal.
  • In-the-Ear (ITE) - Custom made hearing aids that either fit in the full shell or the lower part of your outer ear.
  • Invisible-in-Canal (IIC) - Sit out of sight inside the ear canal.
  • Receiver-in-the-Canal (RIC) - Uses small wires to connect a behind-the-ear hearing aid with the speaker or receiver in the canal or in the ear.

How Do I Get Fitted For A Custom Hearing Aid?

First you will receive a hearing evaluation to determine the type and degree of hearing loss you are experiencing. You will be asked questions about when the hearing troubles began, or if you're experiencing symptoms such as:

  • Ringing in your ears (tinnitus)
  • Dizziness
  • Loss of balance
  • Any other non-hearing-loss symptoms

We will then select the best hearing aid device for you based on your unique needs and lifestyle requirements, and fit you for the device to make sure it rests comfortably in your ears.

Can I Try Before I Buy?

Yes! We offer demo units so you can try a pair of hearing aids before you make a final purchase.

How Long Will It Take To Adjust To Hearing Aids?

Adjusting to a new pair of hearing aids can take some time, and everyone adjusts at their own pace. As a general rule of thumb, you should give yourself a couple weeks to learn how to operate, clean, and maintain your new hearing aids.

We recommend that you start by wearing the device for 2 hours on the first day, and increase the wear-time by 2 hours each day. By day 6, you should be able to comfortably wear your hearing aids for 12 hours.
